The immortal words spoken by Clint Eastwood in 1968's "Hang 'Em High”. Or…

The Sun Also Rises...

MEDIA, the two-hour movie and series pilot for TV One begins shooting in Atlanta next month. So find the TV One channel on your cable or DirecTV now and remember it. I’m heading down to the ATL next week. Casting has been ferocious, but we’re finally putting it all together and we will be ready. Craig Ross, Jr. is directing. Brian White, Gary Jourdan, a reunion with Rockmond Dunbar, it’s a mad, sexy, provocative family drama about a Black media family who gets involved with the mob when they need a loan and how they get out of trouble (or deeper in), depending on your point of view. Every time I say I’m going to post more to this blog (or journal, because I seem to write it more like random thoughts and feelings) I tend to drop out of sight for a few months, so no promises. It’s a very, very exciting time and TV One  has stuck with this project, as have I. Comparisons with Empire on Fox are inevitable and unavoidable. I can only hope the Media movie spawns a series that’s even remotely as successful as Empire, but we are in no way copying that show — this show was being developed well before Empire was on the air, but it’s taken longer to gestate. Keep following, hopefully there’s some juicy stuff coming up that I can share along the way — KA
